12,000 Kids in Madras GNS Sports Editorial

GNS Sports reports that the Madras KidsGames lasted five weeks and included 12,000 children ages 8-14 from 40 churches. Possibly the largest Christian kids sports event for the sub-continent.

The Sydney KidsGames lasted one week and included 150 children from 5 churches ages 5-13. The Salt Lake KidsGames lasted three weeks and included 1500 children from 23 churches ages 4-12. The Cairo KidsGames lasted ten weeks and included 10,000 children ages 5-12 from 85 churches.

In 2002 over 80 countries and several hundred cities will "field test" very small to large KidsGames. In Cameroon there will be the first Pigmy KidsGames. In Kenya the first Refugee KidsGames. In scores of cities sports ministries are setting up special sports & spiritual training camps for the best of the young athletes. It is the decision of each cities churches/agencies to take the KidsGames to wherever there is need and opportunity.

All KidsGames cities are encourages to provide two days of training for churches/agencies representing other cities during the Closing Ceremonies. At the Cairo KidsGames church/agency leaders from cities in Egypt, Syria and the Sudan were trained. In Salt Lake leaders came from other USA cities plus Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and England. In Sydney leaders came from other Australian cites plus Indonesia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tonga.
